Sustainability: If we can all win, what's stopping us?

Each conversation starts with a conundrum. Not a presentation or a product pitch. And certainly not a session where everyone is expected to agree. It’s a chance to bring real experience, different perspectives and practical thinking into the same conversation. And we're starting with sustainability.

About the event
Sustainability: If we can all win, what's stopping us?
Insurance learns best when it learns from itself.
We're introducing Collective Intelligence, a new Camelot series bringing different perspectives from across the insurance industry together to explore the questions we can't solve in isolation.
Each conversation starts with a conundrum. Not a presentation or a product pitch. And certainly not a session where everyone is expected to agree.
It’s a chance to bring real experience, different perspectives and practical thinking into the same conversation. And we're starting with sustainability.
If we can all win, what's stopping us?
Making more sustainable choices sounds straightforward when the benefits are clear. But what happens when one organisation carries the cost and another receives the benefit?
An insurer might invest in making a property more resilient to flooding today, while the financial benefit takes years to emerge. A supply chain partner might be asked to change its processes without sharing in the savings. Customers and communities may benefit in ways that traditional business measures don't fully capture.
So who pays? Who benefits? And when does progress depend on organisations working together rather than acting alone?
These are some of the questions we'll explore in our first Collective Intelligence conversation.
What we'll explore
Does sustainability really have to cost more?
Where do more sustainable approaches create additional costs, and where are they already delivering savings?
Who benefits, and when?
How do we make decisions when the investment is needed today but the value may take years to materialise?
Can one organisation make meaningful progress alone?
Where does competition encourage better choices, and where might the industry need to work together?
Are we measuring the right things?
Could we be overlooking value created for customers, communities and the wider insurance ecosystem?
We won't be looking for neat answers to every question. The aim is to bring different experiences together and understand where the real opportunities and barriers sit.
Join the conversation
The session will bring together perspectives from across insurance, claims, the supply chain and sustainability, with discussion informed by input from industry practitioners.
Contributors: To be announced.
Whether you work for an insurer, broker, MGA, technology provider or elsewhere in the insurance ecosystem, you're welcome to bring your experience and perspective.
Come curious. Be prepared to challenge assumptions. Leave with a different way of looking at the problem.
